Officers were called to the home at 155 Old Beekman Place by a resident around 3 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, asking for help making Leonard Jones IV leave the home, South Brunswick Police Chief Raymond Hayducka said.
As officers were responding, a second 9-1-1 call came in, this one saying the house was on fire.
Jones and three others made it out of the house safely, but an investigation found that Jones had set the home on fire, according to the chief.
He was charged with aggravated arson and domestic violence. Jones was lodged in the Middlesex County Correction Center pending his first court appearance.
The 2-alarm fire was fought by all three township fire companies: Kendall Park, Monmouth Junction, Kingston, and several surrounding community departments.
